Device Verification

Register your computers or mobile devices with us, enabling us to detect unauthorized access to your account. In such instances, we’ll prompt additional authentication methods to verify your identity and ensure account security.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Set up two-factor authentication for an extra layer of protection when logging into accounts. Guardian will NEVER ask for your 6-digit MFA code. Do not give this information out to anyone.

Personal Security

In today’s digital age, we must understand and implement general financial security for our personal well-being. Here are essential tips you can start practicing to keep your information secure.

Beware of Skimming

Before using your debit or credit card at an ATM, store, or gas pump, carefully inspect the card payment terminal for anything suspicious. Any loose or protruding elements could suggest the presence of a skimming device used by thieves to capture card information.

Keep Your Personal Info Secure

Never disclose your full account number, debit/credit card numbers, social security number, or account login information to anyone, including Guardian representatives. Maintain a questioning attitude when receiving suspicious communications appearing to be from Guardian, and always feel free to verify the authenticity of any communication by calling us directly at 334-244-9999.

Protect Your PIN

Avoid sharing your PIN (Personal Identification Number) with others, and exercise caution when entering your PIN. Stay vigilant of your surroundings, particularly in checkout lines or at ATMs, and always shield the keypad from prying eyes while entering your PIN.

Strong Passwords icon

Create Strong Passwords and Enable Biometrics

Creating passwords that are hard for others to guess (without the use of names, street addresses, birthdays, etc.) and taking steps to keep those passwords secure is imperative. Avoid using the same username or password across multiple websites. You can also enable biometrics for your device to use fingerprint, face, or other physical characteristics for authentication.

Beware of Suspicious Calls, Texts, and Emails

Avoid falling victim to phishing scams, which involve fraudulent attacks via phone calls, texts or emails impersonating trusted financial institutions to trick you into sharing personal information. Refrain from providing personal financial details to unknown solicitors. If you're unsure about the legitimacy of a call, err on the side of caution by hanging up and contacting us directly for verification.

Mobile Pay icon

Utilize Your Digital Wallet for Secure Mobile Payments

Every time you pay using a mobile payment app (Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, etc.) instead of using your physical card, you help to shield your card number from fraud. You can access your Guardian debit and credit cards in your digital wallet to make touch-free purchases with your smartphone, tablet, or Apple Watch. Just add your Guardian credit or debit card to these apps or other digital wallets such as PayPal or Venmo to make safe purchases.

Mobile Apps icon

Mobile Apps

Only download apps onto your device on trusted sources such as Apple App Store and Google Play. This will protect you from fraudulent apps that may target your data.

Safe Browsing icon

Practice Safe Browsing

Avoid using public WiFi when accessing online banking and never save your passwords for financial or shopping sites. You can also verify secure websites before logging in by checking for “https” before the web address.
